Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Peter Vincenti win September League One awards

Burton Albion boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Peter Vincenti of Rochdale claim the Manager and Player of the Month awards for September in League One.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Peter Vincenti have been named September's Manager and Player of the Month respectively in League One.

The other three managers nominated for the award all earned more points than Hasselbaink, but the former striker has been recognised for leading Burton Albion to the top of the third tier for the first time in the club's 65-year history.

The Brewers, who only came up from League Two last season, picked up 10 points from five matches last month, including three clean sheets, to lead the way.

"So far the boys have been exceptional and I think that when the manager gets that kind of recognition then they should give the group some recognition as well," said Hasselbaink.

Vincenti, meanwhile, scored in four separate games from midfield, with one of his goals a late winner to down Scunthorpe United.

"It's the first time I've been nominated for this award so I'm delighted to have won it," said Vincenti.

"I've seen players win it before and I've always thought to myself that I would love to be nominated, so I'm really pleased."

The 29-year-old also recently won the inaugural Unsung Hero of the Month award for his work off-the-field with cancer sufferers.
