Burton Albion: 'No Queens Park Rangers approach for Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink'

Burton Albion chairman Ben Robinson admits that speculation linking Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink away from the club is "inevitable", but says no approach has been made by QPR.

Burton Albion have moved to clarify reports suggesting that boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is on the brink of taking over at Queens Park Rangers.

The Dutchman was said to be close to succeeding Chris Ramsey in West London after spending just 12 months in charge of the Brewers.

Since taking to the Pirelli Stadium helm, Hasselbaink has guided Burton to a memorable promotion to League One, where the club have since cemented their place in the playoff zone.

That led to speculation claiming that the ex-Chelsea forward was the top target to take on the QPR job, but Burton have released a statement to clarify the situation.

"The team and the manager have done fantastically well over the last 12 months and that inevitably means that there will be speculation when job vacancies arise," said chairman Ben Robinson.

"We have not had an approach from QPR and Jimmy remains focused on two important League One games coming up against Bury and Wigan."

Neil Warnock remains in charge of the R's on an interim basis, though he has effectively ruled himself out of the running to take over on a permanent basis.
