Steve Cotterill happy with point against Hull City

Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill praises his team after they earn a 1-1 draw with Championship leaders Hull City.

Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill has acknowledged that his team did well to earn a share of the spoils against Hull City.

The Tigers required a second-half strike from Shaun Maloney to register a point at Ashton Gate, but after seeing his team withstand pressure from the Championship leaders in the second half, Cotterill has revealed that he is happy with the draw.

After the match, the 51-year-old told Sky Sports News: "It was a tough game for us. If we were going to win that, it was going to be 1-0. If Marlon Pack can get his head to the ball and the other three drop off, Maloney doesn't get the time and space. We didn't want to give him that.

"I thought our lads were a credit today. They have come up from League One and played against a team who were in the Premier League last year. They are a very good team and will take some stopping for sure."

The result sees City move three points clear of the relegation zone ahead of Saturday afternoon's fixtures.
