Gus Poyet angry at Brighton & Hove Albion defending

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Gus Poyet says that his team's defending during today's 3-3 draw at Wolverhampton Wanderers was "not good enough".

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Gus Poyet has said that his team's defending during today's 3-3 draw at Wolverhampton Wanderers was "not good enough".

The Seagulls thought that they had sealed all three points when Stephen Dobbie converted an 89th-minute penalty kick to give them a 3-2 lead.

However, moments later Roger Johnson headed home an equaliser for Wolves, who had played the entire second half with 10 men following Karl Henry's red card.

"I hate these situations because we are better than that," said Poyet. "It is not good enough.

"The good thing, if you can see a good thing, is that it is only us to blame. We cannot blame anyone else. So we have to take it on the chin, go back and try to be normal next week.

"We have been very good at defending until last Friday [when we drew 2-2 against Leeds United]. We always conceded a maximum of one goal per game. Then in that crazy game against Leeds we conceded two and against Wolves we have conceded three for the first time and we gave it to Wolves."

Next up for Brighton is a trip to Huddersfield Town next Saturday.
