First-half goals from Abdoulaye Doucoure and Victor Montano are enough for Rennes to beat Brest 2-0 in Ligue 1.

Rennes have registered a comfortable 2-0 victory over Brest away from home in Ligue 1.

The hosts were in control of proceedings from the start of the match, but conceded against the run of play in the 28th minute.

Julien Feret sent Abdoulaye Doucoure through on goal to shoot home from the centre of the Brest penalty box.

Jonathan Pitroipa had a good chance to double Rennes's lead just two minutes later when he shot on target after latching onto Feret's cross, but Bastia goalkeeper Alexis Thebaux made a good save.

The visitors made the best of their good spell in the first half and doubled their advantage on 37 minutes, Victor Montano heading home Feret's free kick from close range.

Chances were few and far between in the opening minutes of the second half, as the two sides started to cancel each other out.

However, Rennes did not relinquish their two-goal advantage and eased through to maximum points at Stade Francis-Le Ble.
