An injury-time winner from Lee Hughes gave Notts County a 3-2 victory over Shrewsbury Town in a thrilling encounter at the Meadow Lane Stadium this afternoon.

Preston North End made it two league wins in a row with a 2-1 victory over Bury at Gigg Lane.

Hartlepool had a man sent off as they surrendered a 1-0 lead in the second half, losing the game 2-1 to Carlisle United.

Sheffield United, despite having two men sent off during the game, grabbed a late equaliser against Scunthorpe United to draw 1-1.

Brentford beat Colchester United 1-0 at home to earn three points, while Crewe Alexandra and Tranmere Rovers played out a 0-0 draw to share the points.

A Dean Holden goal gave Walsall a 1-0 win over MK Dons, with Richard Hughes also getting the only goal of the game in Bournemouth's 1-0 victory away at Yeovil Town.

Swindon Town suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Leyton Orient.
