Flamengo youngster Mattheus is understood to be on the verge of joining Juventus.

The 18-year-old, who is the son of former Brazil forward Bebeto, looks poised to swap South America for Europe for a transfer fee in the region of £1.75m.

Flamengo director of football Paulo Pelaipe told Lancenet: "There is only one document left, which will come from Italy, but the deal is almost certain."

Mattheus was the newly-born child who sparked the famous baby-cradling celebrations between Bebeto, Romario and Mazinho at the 1994 World Cup.
