Bournemouth sign Juan Iturbe on six-month loan

Roma attacker Juan Iturbe joins Premier League side Bournemouth on loan until the end of the season.

Roma attacker Juan Iturbe has agreed to join Bournemouth on loan until the end of the season.

Earlier last month, it was widely thought that the 22-year-old would be on his way to Watford, who were strongly linked with the Paraguay international since the start of the season.

However, Bournemouth moved ahead in the race towards the end of December and have now announced Iturbe's signature. The deal is for an initial six months, but Eddie Howe's side have the option to make it permanent next summer.

"FC Bournemouth can confirm the signing of Juan Iturbe on loan from AS Roma, subject to FA endorsement and European work permit," read a statement on the Premier League club's website.

"The Argentina Under-20 international, who was capped at senior level for Paraguay at just 16 years of age, will join Eddie Howe's side for the rest of the 2015-16 season. The Cherries retain the option to make the switch permanent in the summer for an undisclosed fee."

Iturbe underwent his first training session as a Bournemouth player on New Year's Day, but he is not eligible to face Leicester City on Saturday.
