Bournemouth miss chance to go top as Millwall come back to snatch a draw

Bournemouth miss their chance to go top of the Championship table as Millwall rescue a 2-2 draw.

Bournemouth threw away a two-goal lead and a chance to go to the top of the Championship table as Millwall came back to rescue a 2-2 draw this afternoon.

Eddie Howe's side took the lead on 22 minutes when Cook powered a header beyond David Forde at the back post, having earlier spurned an excellent chance from a Bournemouth corner.

Matt Ritchie's smart pass then found Pitman, who calmly slotted the ball beyond Forde three minutes later to double his team's advantage.

Ian Holloway switched things up at half time in an attempt to get back into the game, taking Mark Beevers off for Ricardo Fuller, and the striker nearly made an immediate impact, sending a powerful effort just over the bar on 46 minutes.

Martyn Woolford headed Alan Dunne's free kick narrowly over the bar 10 minutes later, before Edward Upson directed his header from Woolford's corner straight at Artur Boruc just after the hour mark.

Upson then pulled one back for his side on 74 minutes when he headed substitute Jermaine Easter's cross beyond the reach of Boruc.

Dunne's header then hit the bar on 87 minutes as Holloway's side searched for an equaliser, before Magaye Gueye rescued a point for his side when he struck on 88 minutes.
