Interview: 'TOWIE' star and Boston United midfielder Jake Hall

Sports Mole catches up with The Only Way is Essex star and Boston United midfielder Jake Hall.

Brought in to strengthen Boston United's hopes of promotion from the Conference North this season, 24-year-old Jake Hall has scored one goal in three games since returning to the Lincolnshire club.

Hall, who also appears on reality series The Only Way Is Essex and runs two clothing companies, is now preparing to help Boston negotiate their way into the Conference National.

Two of Hall's three appearances on his return have been off the bench, but he played the full 90 minutes in their 0-0 draw with Leamington at the weekend – a match which stretched Boston's unbeaten run to 10 games.

On Wednesday, Boston will travel to Chorley for the first leg of their playoff semi-final and Sports Mole caught up with the midfielder ahead of what is a crucial game in the club's history.

How are you feeling after the Leamington game? You must have been pleased to get 90 minutes under your belt?

"I had been on the substitutes' bench since I had come back and I needed the 90 minutes to just get the feeling back. I thought I was going to struggle a lot worse, but I think because I have been doing a lot of running, sprint work etc I was alright, to be fair.

"The crowd were buzzing, absolutely unreal. It was a lovely game to be a part of, loads of fans. At the end of the game, everyone was on the pitch. It was lovely."

Moving onto the Chorley game, are you ready for the first leg?

"I am ready for it, I cannot wait. I am hoping that I come on and bag another late winner or something. In these playoff games, obviously it is about how you play etc but everyone ups their game their extra 50% because of the game that it is.

"I believe in the team, the team that we have here is unreal so hopefully it all goes well."

Can you dare to dream of the Conference? How much would it mean to secure promotion?

"Getting to the Conference would be the highlight of my career. I was on trial for a while at Luton Town and I thought that I could play at that level, it is just getting the opportunity.

"This is our opportunity to get into that league and give it a go, with the fans that we have, if we went into the Conference, it would go mad, anything could happen, just look at Bournemouth.

"Boston are looking at getting the new stadium and what a great time that would be to go up. Football is mad. It is a mad sport. I don't think anyone would have backed Bournemouth to get in the Prem as quickly as they have, it can happen. If you get a good bond and if everyone is up for it, then you can go anywhere. It is just having it all right at the right time."

What about the strength of the Boston team? How confident are you that it could compete at a higher level?

"From front to back, the goalkeeper (Maksymilian Stryjek) is 18 years old and I have never seen someone come out and catch the ball like he does. You have got Rene Steer left-back, Liam Marrs right-back, the centre-backs – no-one beats them in the air and they are excellent on the floor.

"You've got Scott Garner in the middle and then you've got the two strikers, who are smashing them in. The team is that good. It is best I have played for."

Have you had a chance to think about next season? Will you be involved with Boston?

"I would love to back at Boston next season. It is just managing my filming with my football. It can work.

"All the boys at Boston understand my circumstances, they know I used to travel miles just to get to training etc the boys understand where I am coming from. I would love to be at Boston next season whether that is in the Conference or we don't make it. I love that club."

What about the team spirit?

"The gaffer has a great relationship with the players and all the backroom staff etc and everyone seems to just click. I think that is the key thing, it isn't about the individuals, it is about everyone coming together and that has been really great. I know all the boys there, and they all get my situation. They know that I am dedicated and have always been dedicated.

"It isn't like I have come from nowhere. I have made a lot of appearances for Boston and it is what it is. If I can help them, which I have so far – bagging a goal. The boys accept it all, which is great."

What about off-the-pitch Jake? You seem to be very busy with your two fashion brands – Prévu and Domingo Rodriguez.

"I try and split my time between the two. One is a higher-end brand so we do London Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week, and then one is more of an affordable brand, mainly online.

"We are looking to do both New York and Las Vegas Fashion Week with both Domingo Rodriguez and Prévu this year as well. I am still 24, I am grafting away. I am trying to keep it all going at once."

Finally Jake, are you confident of bagging a late winner against Chorley?

"I would love to guarantee it. I am going to try and re-think the thoughts that I was thinking the last time when I scored, so I will try and let you know before I come on! It will be a good game, I am sure of that."
