Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller has agreed on a contract extension that will see him stay at the German club until the end of the 2015-16 season.

The 32-year-old, who has been at the Bundesliga outfit since 2002, is delighted to commit his long-term future to Jurgen Klopp's side.

"BVB have been enjoying a unique development and growth in recent years and I want to be part of this project in the future, too," quotes him as saying.

Dortmund's sporting director Michael Zorc added: "Roman is an extraordinary goalkeeper who consistently performs top-notch and has played an essential part in both the 2011 and 2012 Bundesliga championship as well as this season's progression to the UEFA Champions League final."
