Bolton Wanderers sign Irish defender Cian Bolger from Leicester City on a three-and-a-half-year deal.

Bolton Wanderers have completed the signing of Irish defender Cian Bolger from Leicester City for an undisclosed fee.

The 20-year-old, who spent the last 18 months on loan at Bristol Rovers, joins the Trotters on a three-and-a-half-year deal.

Bolton boss Dougie Freedman said: "Although he'll train with the first-team squad, Cian is one who will initially play in the development squad.

"We believe that he has the potential to be knocking on the door for a regular place in the senior team in the near future."

Bolger did not make a single first-team appearance for Leicester, but he featured on 52 occasions during his time at Bristol Rovers.
