Bolton Wanderers boss Dougie Freedman is adamant that only players putting in the effort will get a chance to play for his side.

Bolton Wanderers boss Dougie Freedman has said that only players putting in the effort at his side will get to play in their Championship games.

The Trotters travel to Watford on Saturday, where striker Marvin Sordell will line up against his former team for the first time.

Freedman told reporters: "I don't care for new clubs, old clubs - it happened to me the other week with Crystal Palace.

"Obviously, in the form he is in, Marvin Sordell is in contention to play from the start because he deserves it.

"It's a lesson to any of the players around here because I am not a manager that hands out the jerseys - if you are putting in the effort in training and doing right by the club then you certainly will play."

Bolton are currently 17th in the Championship, six points clear of the relegation zone.
