Late Mattia Destro penalty rescues a point for Bologna

Bologna and Roma share the spoils in a dramatic 2-2 draw in Serie A.

Three penalties were awarded in the second half as Bologna and Roma shared the spoils in a dramatic 2-2 draw in Serie A.

The visitors were first to threaten, Antonio Rudiger coming close with a drive from 35 yards out in the fifth minute.

Bologna took the lead eight minutes later following an in-swinging corner from Luca Rossettini, which fell kindly in the area for Adam Masina to rifle home.

Roma goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny prevented the hosts from moving further in front in the 16th minute as he kept out Emanuele Giaccherini's strike from inside the six-yard box.

Rudi Garcia's side ended the first period on the front foot, but the travelling fans had to wait until the second half to see an equaliser, which came from the penalty spot.

Anthony Mounier was penalised for a handball offence inside the area, allowing Miralem Pjanic to level things up from 12 yards.

Former Manchester City man Edin Dzeko was a constant threat in the second period, and it was through him that Roma found their second, again from the penalty spot.

Rossettini was adjudged to have committed a foul in the box, leaving it to the Bosnian to step up and fire his side in front for the first time in the match.

Roma looked odds-on to hold out for maximum points, but Bologna won a penalty of their own two minutes from time when Vasilis Torosidis bundled over Giaccherini in the box.

Mattia Destro stepped up and buried the decisive penalty kick, rescuing a point for the home side and earning a yellow card for his overzealous celebration in the process.
