The agent of Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean, Jerome Anderson, has sought legal advice over alleged "abusive messages and threats" directed at the Scot and his family by fans.
Rovers supporters have held a number of protests before, during and after matches this season over Kean's continued position as boss.
The club is currently bottom of the Premier League table after a poor opening half of the season.
Anderson and owners Venky's have also been the target of protests by fans.
