Blackburn Roves boss Gary Bowyer hails "immense" David Dunn

Blackburn Rovers boss Gary Bowyer hails David Dunn following the veteran midfielder's announcement that he will be leaving the club in the summer.

Blackburn Rovers boss Gary Bowyer has paid tribute to outgoing midfielder David Dunn by describing him as "immense".

The 35-year-old recently confirmed that he would be leaving Ewood Park in the summer following a 13-year association with the club.

Bowyer believes that Dunn has the right qualities to manage Blackburn in the future, something which the former England international has admitted an interest in doing.

"Between now and him leaving there will be a hell of a lot of plaudits going his way and rightly so as what he has done for this football club is unbelievable, it is immense," he told the club's official website.

"He's come through the academy and has gone on to represent England whilst at Blackburn Rovers. We've always used him as a role model for the younger players, in this day and age I'm not sure we'll see many more types like him.

"The qualities he's got throughout his career I'm sure that they will continue in his quest to become a manager. And one day, in my opinion, he will manage Blackburn Rovers, and I look forward to that day."

Blackburn end their Championship campaign on Saturday when they entertain Ipswich Town.
