Birmingham City sign midfielder Papa Bouba Diop on a short-term contract.

Former Portsmouth, West Ham United and Fulham midfielder Papa Bouba Diop has joined Birmingham City on a short-term contract.

The Senegalese player has agreed terms and passed a medical at St Andrews, but he must wait on the outcome of a visa application before his transfer can be confirmed.

The 34-year-old scored one goal in 16 appearances last season as he helped West Ham United achieve promotion to the Premier League last season.

Birmingham City manager Lee Clark will be hoping that Diop can have a similar influence on his side as they struggle in 21st place in the Championship.
