Thibaut Courtois: 'Belgium can handle Marouane Fellaini absence against Wales'

Thibaut Courtois is not concerned by Marouane Fellaini's injury absence for the Euro 2016 qualifier against Wales in Cardiff on Friday night.

Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is confident that his side have the strength in depth to deal with the absence of Marouane Fellaini against Wales.

The Manchester United midfielder has been ruled out of the Euro 2016 qualifier due to a groin injury sustained in training earlier this week.

Having scored twice in Belgium's 4-3 win over France last weekend, Fellaini was expected to play a key role in the crucial fixture in Cardiff, and Courtois admits that seeing the 27-year-old pull out of the squad has provided an unwelcome blow.

"Fellaini is really important for us. He showed that against France," Sky Sports News quotes Chelsea stopper Courtois as saying. "Marouane is physically strong and Wales have a few strong players, so it would have helped to have him in the team.

"But we have a team with a lot of qualities and another player will come in for him and do the best he can."

Belgium and Wales are currently locked on points at the top of Group B, having both won three and drawn two of their opening five games.
