Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger expects to miss Saturday's DFL-Supercup clash against Borussia Dortmund with an ankle injury.

Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has admitted that he is still short of being match-fit for the new season.

The 28-year-old, who did appear against Barcelona in a pre-season clash last week, suffered an ankle ligament problem in February.

"It was nice to get some playing time [against Barcelona], but I still need people to be patient with me. I'm still in the development phase of the recovery," he told Bild.

Bayern face Borussia Dortmund in the DFL-Supercup clash on Saturday.
