Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara returns to Germany

Thiago Alcantara returns to Bayern Munich to continue his recovery from a tear to the medial collateral ligament in his right knee.

Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara has headed back to Germany as he steps up his recovery from his latest knee injury.

The Spaniard has spent the last few months back in his native Barcelona following surgery to repair a tear to the medial collateral ligament in his right knee.

However, having started his rehabilitation in Spain, the 23-year-old will now continue the process with Bayern's medical staff.

"Thanks to all that you have helped me in these months. Back to Munchen," he wrote on Twitter.

Thiago has suffered three knee injuries since arriving in Bavaria from Barca in 2013.
