Ten-man Bayern Munich net four to thrash Olympiacos

A dominant first-half display helps 10-man Bayern Munich thrash Olympiacos 4-0 in their Champions League clash, as Holger Badstuber picks up a red card.

A dominant first-half display has helped 10-man Bayern Munich thrash Olympiacos 4-0 in their Champions League clash this evening.

The hosts were in complete control of the opening half, scoring the game's first goal after just eight minutes when Olympiacos goalkeeper Roberto parried a 20-yard Jerome Boateng strike into the path of Douglas Costa, who was left with a simple finish.

The Bavarians added a second goal on 16 minutes, as Kingsley Coman found Robert Lewandowski in a good position, before the Polish striker slotted home.

Pep Guardiola's side netted for a third time just four minutes later when Coman skewed an effort, only for Robben to head the rebound into the path of Muller, who found the net from close range.

Bayern missed a string of opportunities to go further ahead before the break, with Lewandowski, Muller and Coman all missing chances to add to the scoreline, while Brown Ideye saw a free kick deflect away for the visitors.

Olympiacos were given hopes of a comeback in the second half, as Bayern defender Holger Badstuber was dismissed for a foul on Ideye outside the penalty area, but Arthur Masuaku's effort from the resulting free kick flew over the bar.

Despite their disadvantage, the hosts continued to dominate the game's chances, as Costa hit the side-netting with a free kick before being denied by Roberto in a one-on-one opportunity moments later.

The hosts netted a fourth goal after 70 minutes when Muller teed up Coman for a header, before the young Frenchman collided with Roberto on the way to finding the net.

Bayern came close to a fifth goal before the final whistle, as Roberto denied Joshua Kimmich with a good save in the bottom corner, while Muller struck the post late on.
