Manuel Neuer feels that Bayern Munich are fortunate to have had the 3-1 away leg win to fall back on after losing to Arsenal on Wednesday night.

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has admitted that he is relieved to have won 3-1 Against Arsenal in the first leg in London in the Champions League last 16.

Bayern were defeated 2-0 in the home leg but went through on away goals. Neuer admitted that he and his teammates were not at their best and would have gone out but for the strong win in the away leg.

"I don't think we were at our best today and a lot of things didn't go right for us," quotes Neuer as saying. "We're lucky we built up such a lead in London. If we hadn't won 3-1 there then we wouldn't have gone through.

"However, as a professional you have to accept that sometimes games like this can go wrong because there are lot of quality teams playing on a level with one another. We have to learn from this and take the experience into future matches.

"We were relying on the fact that we're always capable of scoring a goal. Usually we do score at home, but that's not something we should have assumed. We can count ourselves lucky that their second goal only came four minutes from the end."

Neuer has been ever-present this season, making 32 appearances for Bayern.
