Lars Bender has claimed that the signing of Javier Hernandez proves that Bayer Leverkusen are heading in the right direction.
After months of speculation surrounding Hernandez's future, the Mexican made the switch to the Bundesliga in August when it became clear that he was not needed by Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal.
Hernandez joins a side bidding to reach the knockout stages of the Champions League for the third successive season, and Bender is excited by what the striker can bring to the club.
"It's a great story with him," the Leverkusen captain told Bild. "We have got a quality player and signing him shows that we have a sporting appeal have gained attractiveness."
Hernandez could make his debut against SV Darmstadt 98 on Saturday.
