Player Ratings: Basel 4-0 Ludogorets Razgrad

Sports Mole rates the individual performances from both sets of players in Basel's 4-0 win over Ludogorets Razgrad in Group B of the Champions League.

Basel clinched a comfortable 4-0 win over Ludogorets Razgrad in Group B of the Champions League this evening.

There were four different scorers for the Swiss side, including 17-year-old Breel Embolo and Champions League debutant Shkelzen Gashi.

The result avenges Basel's 1-0 defeat to the Bulgarian champions last time out, and moves them up to second in the table.

Here, Sports Mole analyses the individual performances from both sets of players.

Goal

Tomas Vaclik: The Basel keeper only had two saves to make all game, but he did ensure that the home side kept a clean sheet, and avoided giving away a penalty in the first half. (7/10)

Defence

Fabian Schar: The defender made some crucial blocks towards the end of the first half as the visitors tried to get back on level terms, and showed some promise going forward in the second half. (7/10)

Marek Suchy: Suchy scored his first ever Champions League goal on his 22nd appearance in the competition, but also made some important contributions in defence. (8/10)

Behrang Safari: The centre-back did not have the busiest night, but he did defend a couple of set pieces well in the first half, and helped halt the Ludogorets fight back early in the second half. (6/10)

Taulant Xhaka: Xhaka kept Dani Abalo in check for the majority of the match, and even came close to scoring towards the end of the match. (7/10)

Midfield

Luca Zuffi: Zuffi proved a constant threat for the hosts, providing several crosses and the corner that gave Suchy his goal. (8/10)

Shkelzen Gashi: On his Champions League debut, it took Gashi a little while to settle as he spurned a number of first-half chances but his accuracy improved after the break, and he marked his performance with a well-taken goal before being subbed off with 15 minutes to spare. (7/10)

Fabian Frei: The Basel captain put in a superb performance for the hosts, providing the assist for the first two goals and setting up several more chances in the second half, as well as making a number of clearances at the back. (9/10)

Derlis Gonzalez: The Brazilian looked sharp from the start, teaming up with Embolo to put the Ludogorets defenders under pressure, and his pace proved crucial as he timed his run to meet Frei's ball forward for the team's second goal. (8/10)

Mohamed Elneny: Elneny did not prove much of a goal threat, but he did win the ball back in midfield on a number of occasions, and provided some dangerous balls into the box, although none of them resulted in a goal. (5/10)

Attack

Breel Embolo: The teenage striker put in a performance beyond his years, showing strength and pace up front to score his first Champions League goal while also providing the cross for Gashi's goal. (9/10)

Substitutes

Matias Delgado: The striker came on for Gashi for the final 15 minutes, but did not have much of an impact. (4/10)

Marcelo Diaz: Returning from a three-match European suspension, Diaz replaced Frei for the final 10 minutes, and played a couple of balls into the box, but did not have enough time to make a real contribution. (5/10)

Davide Calla: The midfielder replaced Gonzalez with 20 minutes to play, but he had little involvement, with the home side already four goals up. (4/10)

LUDOGORETS

Goal

Vladislav Stojanov: The visiting keeper saved less than half of the on-target efforts, and probably should have done better with the fourth goal. (3/10)

Defence

Brayan Angulo: The defender had a solid night at the back, but his performance was marred by a horrendous corner, which he sliced straight into the side-netting. (5/10)

Cosmin Moti: Moti had looked like being one of Ludogorets's best players, but an injury forced him off with just over 20 minutes played. (4/10)

Georgi Terziev: Terziev made a couple of blocks to protect the goalkeeper late on, but he did concede the corner that gave the home side their fourth goal of the evening. (5/10)

Junior Caicara: Caicara struggled to cope with Embolo and Gonzalez's pace in the first half, but did prove a bit of threat himself going forward in the second half. (5/10)

Midfield

Mihail Aleksandrov: The winger was Ludogorets's best attacking player of the night, with the best chance for the visitors to get a goal back falling to him, but he could not beat the Basel keeper. (7/10)

Fabio Espinho: The midfielder had a couple of shots, but did not really cause too many problems for the Basel defenders, and was subbed off with over 20 minutes still to play. (5/10)

Dani Abalo: The winger has been one of the Bulgarian side's best players this season, but he was unable to get free to show off his goal-scoring prowess. (3/10)

Svetoslav Dyakov: The Ludogorets captain had a won the ball a few times in midfield, and tries to get a shot away once or twice, but like many of his teammates, he could not find the target. (4/10)

Marcelinho: The winger looked a threat in the first half, but his frustrations got the better of him after the break as he gave away a number of free kicks, and he might have been lucky to remain on the pitch for the final whistle. (3/10)

Attack

Roman Bezjak: The striker had just one chance before being taken off at half time, but a poor first touch meant Abalo had to get the shot away instead. (2/10)

Substitutes

Aleksandar Aleksandrov: The defender ended up playing most of the match after replacing Moti 20 minutes in, but could not cope with the speedy play of Embolo and Gonzalez. (3/10)

Anicet Abel: The striker came on just after the hour mark for Espinho to try to inject something extra into the Ludogorets attack, but he did not have a shot before the end of the night. (2/10)

Hamza Younes: The winger took the place of Bezjak at half time, and he created a few half-chances for the visitors, but he ultimately could not lead the Bulgarian side back into the match. (4/10)
