Luis Suarez 'surprised' by US support

Barcelona forward Luis Suarez admits his surprise at the fanatical support that the Spanish club have received in the United States.

Barcelona forward Luis Suarez has admitted that he has been 'surprised' by the amount of US supporters that the Spanish club have.

As football continues to grow in the United States, support for Europe's biggest clubs is also on an upwards spiral.

Suarez's Barca team are currently in California on their pre-season tour, and the Uruguay international has said that the fanatical following has 'drawn his attention'.

"It's been surprising, especially because here in the US football is not a top sport. The fan support has really drawn my attention," Suarez told Barcelona's official website.

Suarez was in action on Saturday as Barcelona lost 3-1 to Manchester United in their second match since arriving in the United States last week.
