Luis Enrique: 'Luis Suarez was rested'

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique says that he thought it was best for all concerned if Luis Suarez sat out the 6-0 win over Getafe.

Head coach Luis Enrique has confirmed that he decided to rest Luis Suarez for Barcelona's 6-0 win over Getafe yesterday afternoon.

The Uruguayan has featured 41 times in all competitions this term, from which he has scored 42 goals - six more than any of his teammates.

As a result, Enrique has revealed that the frontman would benefit from sitting out a game.

"He didn't play today because he has countless minutes under his belt this season," the boss told the club's official website.

"I decided that the best thing for the team and for him was to give him rest."

Suarez joined the Catalans from Liverpool in 2014 for a reported £75m fee.
