Barcelona's Cesc Fabregas has claimed that teammate Lionel Messi is "from another world" following his hat-trick against Deportivo La Coruna on Saturday night.

Barca overcame Deportivo 5-4 in a thrilling encounter at La Riazor, in which Messi breached the net three times.

"Messi is from another world," said Fabregas. "Messi comes from a long trip with the national team and [is] always here. He gives us a lot. Indeed, he understands all."

The win moves Tito Vilanova's side three points clear at the top of La Liga, ahead of Atletico Madrid.
