Barcelona defender Eric Abidal has been forced to retire from football.
The 32-year-old Frenchman recently underwent liver transplant surgery.
He had previously had surgery on the same organ in March 2011 after doctors had discovered a tumour.
Abidal won three La Liga titles and two Champions Leagues during a five successful years at the Nou Camp.
