Raul Garcia pens contract extension at Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid midfielder Raul Garcia signs a contract extension at the Vicente Calderon, keeping him at the club until 2018.

Atletico Madrid midfielder Raul Garcia has signed a contract extension at the Vicente Calderon, keeping him at the club until 2018.

The 27-year-old creative linking man joined the Rojiblancos in 2007, with Garcia notching 14 goals in all competitions this season, second only to the club's leading scorer Diego Costa.

"I'm very happy with the agreement. Both the club and I wanted to finalise it because I'm very happy here," Garcia told the club's official website.

"Now the only thing left is to continue working to achieve the team's objectives. Things are going very well and we are working hard to continue along this line for a long time to come."

During Garcia's time at the Madrid club, Atletico have won the Europa League, Copa del Rey and two UEFA Super Cups.
