Koke: 'Everyone within Spain camp needs to step up'

Atletico Madrid and Spain midfielder Koke believes that the burden for La Roja to improve their game should not fall solely on him.

Atletico Madrid and Spain midfielder Koke has claimed that the burden for La Roja to improve their game should not fall solely on him.

The 22-year-old has been described by some as a successor to Xavi, with Vicente del Bosque's side eager to rebuild and put their shock first-round exit in the World Cup behind them.

Koke, however, told Marca: "It's not just me. Everyone here has to step up, both the youngsters and the veterans. We had a very good era, and we have to keep working at it.

"We have to take that step forward - not just me, everyone - to make it to the Euros and play a good tournament."

Spain, second in their Euro 2016 qualifying group, take on Belarus this Saturday.
