Former Athletic Bilbao boss Marcelo Bielsa is reportedly close to being appointed as the new head coach of French outfit Marseille.

The Argentine departed Bilbao last summer, but has since been linked with a number of positions.

According to L'Equipe, the experienced manager tops a shortlist for the Marseille position, with an appointment expected to be made in the next 48 hours.

Peru and Morocco are also believed to be interested in securing the services of Bielsa, but it is understood that 'El Loco' wants a return to club management.

Jose Anigo is currently the interim coach at Marseille.
