Atalanta BC ease past Carpi

Mauricio Pinilla, Alejandro Gomez and Luca Cigarini find the net as Atalanta BC cruise to a 3-0 victory over Carpi.

Atalanta BC kept up their impressive home form in Serie A by easing to a 3-0 victory over struggling Carpi this afternoon.

The Nerazzurri made a bright start to the match and Alejandro Gomez fired inches wide of the target in the opening minutes.

In the seventh minute the hosts made their early dominance count as Mauricio Pinilla arrived at the back post to head in from Maximiliano Moralez's cross and give his side the lead.

Atalanta punished their opponents further by opening up a two-goal lead at the end of the first half when Gomez scored straight from a corner.

The home side started the second half in the same fashion as they ended the first and Alberto Grassi forced the keeper to tip away his effort.

They would not be denied again in the 63rd minute, as Luca Cigarini scored their third goal of the afternoon from the penalty spot, after Pinilla had been brought down in the box by Igor Bubnjic.

Atalanta then comfortably saw out the remainder of the match to seal the points and move into the top half of the Serie A table.
