Tim Sherwood cannot guarantee Aston Villa future

Tim Sherwood says that he is the wrong person to ask about his future after Swansea City won 2-1 to increase the pressure on the Aston Villa manager's job.

Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood has said that he is the wrong person to ask about his future at the club after his side lost for the eighth time in nine Premier League matches.

Villa blew a one-goal lead to lose 2-1 to Swansea City on Saturday to leave them with just four points from a possible 36 and increase the pressure on Sherwood.

The 46-year-old said that he did not feel his side deserved to lose the match, but admitted that the club are short on the quality that they need to win matches.

"I am disappointed with the result, we didn't deserve to lose the game," he told BBC Sport. "We can't carry anyone because we are getting done. At the moment we are short. If people don't give everything then we will come up short.

"There is no shortage in desire but the quality is not quite there. We are not world beaters, our league position suggests we are not and today was not our day.

"Am I going to be in the job next week? I'm not the person to ask. I feel like the club is in a hole."

Villa could slip to the bottom of the Premier League table if Sunderland beat Newcastle United in Sunday's Wear-Tyne derby.
