Aston Villa captain Ron Vlaar to undergo late fitness test ahead of Liverpool game

Aston Villa captain Ron Vlaar reportedly remains an injury doubt ahead of his side's trip to Liverpool this weekend.

Aston Villa captain Ron Vlaar will reportedly undergo a late fitness test ahead of his side's clash with Liverpool this weekend.

The Dutch defender is currently struggling with a calf strain that he picked up during Villa's 2-1 win over Hull City on August 31.

Vlaar could remain on the sidelines and miss the Villans' Premier League encounter away to Liverpool on Saturday, according to the Birmingham Mail.

Villa head to Anfield in third place in the table following two wins and a draw from their opening three matches.
