Paul Lambert: 'No rush over contract talks'

Paul Lambert says that there is no need to discuss a new contract yet, but is in regular contact with chairman Randy Lerner.

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has insisted that there is no need to rush into talks over his new contract, as he still has time left to run on his current deal.

Lambert said that his discussions with chairman Randy Lerner are always productive and that the main focus at the moment is on the matches until the end of the season.

"Nothing really [has happened as regards my contract]," Sky Sports News quotes Lambert as saying. "The most important thing is the game on Saturday. I speak to Randy a lot and things like that will take care of itself. There's nothing major in it.

"I've another year after this anyway. I never look too far ahead. The discussions between me and the chairman will be the same as they've always been.

"They see the vision and what's happened, and the work's going on behind the scenes, to have that vision of what you want to do."

Villa are currently 10th in the Premier League.
