Preview: Monaco vs. Zenit St Petersburg

Sports Mole looks ahead to Monaco's crucial encounter at home to Zenit in the Champions League.

Monaco entertain Zenit St Petersburg in Group C of the Champions League on Tuesday knowing that a draw will take them through to the last 16.

The French club, who occupy second place in the table, currently have a one-point advantage over the Russians.

However, a victory for Zenit would put Andre Villas-Boas's side through to the next round along with Bayer Leverkusen. The two teams played out a goalless draw in the reverse fixture two months ago.

Zenit come into the match in the better form with four wins in their last six games in all competitions. Meanwhile, Monaco have won three of their last six.

A 0-0 draw on Wednesday would see Monaco become the first ever team to make it through to the knockout stage having scored just two goals during the group phase.

The hosts will be without the suspended Ricardo Carvalho, while Layvin Kurzawa has been ruled out with a hamstring injury. Geoffrey Kondogbia and Andrea Raggi are both doubtful. Zenit have an almost fully-fit squad to choose from, though forward Aleksandr Kerzhakov is missing with a foot problem.

Monaco:

Form in Champions League: DWDDLW
Form in all competitions: DDWLWW

Possible starting lineup: Subasic; Fabinho, Toulalan, Abdennour, Raggi; Joao Moutinho, Bakayoko; Bernardo Silva, Berbatov, Ferreira Carrasco; Martial

Zenit:

Form in Champions League: WWDLLW
Form in all competitions: LWWLWW

Possible starting lineup: Lodygin; Anyukov, Garay, Lombaerts, Criscito; Javi Garcia, Witsel; Hulk, Danny, Ryazantsev; Rondon

Sports Mole says: 1-1
