Jack Wilshere 'working towards' new Arsenal deal

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere admits that he is using his Bournemouth loan spell as a chance to prove he deserves a new deal at the Emirates.

Jack Wilshere has revealed that he is "working hard" to prove that he deserves a new contract with Arsenal.

The 24-year-old is currently on a season-long loan with Bournemouth, having found game time with the Gunners limited through injury for the past two years.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has stated that he intends to offer Wilshere a new contract when he returns to the Emirates, and the midfielder has admitted that he is hoping to demonstrate his worth by performing for the Cherries.

"At the moment, my head is in Bournemouth," Wilshere told Sky Sports News. "I know as much as everyone else knows.

"I read what the boss at Arsenal said and at the moment I'm focused on performing for Bournemouth and putting myself in a position where Arsenal want to offer me a new contract and I'm in a strong position at the end of the season.

"At the moment, I'm taking each game as it comes, working hard and I'm looking forward to the next six or seven months here at Bournemouth. We'll see what happens after that."

Wilshere has featured in nine of Bournemouth's 10 league games since his deadline-day switch to the south coast.
