A report claims that Tottenham Hotspur are planning a £17m bid for Schalke 04 attacker Julian Draxler, who had previously been strongly linked with Arsenal.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly preparing a £17m bid for Schalke 04 attacker Julian Draxler.

The German international, who is currently with his national team at this summer's World Cup, was the subject of interest from Arsenal in the January transfer window.

However, with Arsenal's interest cooling, Spurs are believed to have stepped up their pursuit.

According to The Metro, the London side will submit an opening bid of £17m, but are prepared to raise their offer.

Draxler has been at Schalke since 2011.
