A report claims that Athletic Bilbao want to sign Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal.

Athletic Bilbao have reportedly identified Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal as a potential signing.

The Spaniard, who joined the Gunners from Malaga in January 2013, has failed to gain a regular role in Arsene Wenger's first XI since arriving in London.

Atletico Madrid have been credited with an interest, but according to Marca, Bilbao are the favourites to sign the left-back, who qualifies for their Basque-only policy.

The 28-year-old started his professional career with Osasuna, making his first-team debut in 2006 before joining Malaga in 2011.

The defender has also been capped 16 times by La Roja.
