Romanian striker Ciprian Marica is due to join a Spanish club after a move to Tottenham Hotspur broke down, according to his agent.

The agent of Romanian striker Ciprian Marica has confirmed that his client is currently in Madrid in order to tie up his future.

The 27-year-old, who is currently available on a free transfer after leaving Schalke 04 in the summer, has been linked with Premier League trio West Ham United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. However, Victor Becali has confirmed that a move to Spurs has "failed".

Becali told Dolce Sport: "Marica's transfer to Tottenham failed. Rayo [Vallecano] cannot pay the salary, nor can they approach half the salary that he had in Schalke. Very few teams in Spain can pay well, but Marica is now in Madrid."

Atletico Madrid are believed to have entered the race for his signature.
