Jack Wilshere believes that there is no reason why Arsenal can't put pressure on Manchester City in the Premier League.

Jack Wilshere believes that Arsenal can push for the Premier League title following a resurge in form after a disappointing start to the season.

The Gunners endured a tough period at the start of their new campaign, with suggestions that boss Arsene Wenger should step down from the helm at the Emirates.

Despite fears surrounding the North London club, Arsenal have lifted themselves to fifth in the league table.

"Why [can't we challenge for the title]?" the Daily Star quotes Wilshere as saying. "Manchester City are strong favourites but if we carry on our run we'll keep plugging away. Hopefully towards the end of the season they will slip up and we will keep going."

The Gunners are twelve points behind leaders Man City.
