Arsene Wenger: We were "very poor" against Liverpool

Arsene Wenger rues his side's "very poor" display following their 5-1 defeat to Liverpool this afternoon.

Arsene Wenger has lamented a "very poor" performance from his Arsenal side as they were hammered 5-1 by Liverpool at Anfield.

Daniel Sturridge scored for the Reds as Martin Skrtel and Raheem Sterling added a brace each, and the Gunners boss was disappointed with his players' display.

Speaking to BT Sport after the game, Wenger said: "I felt it was a very poor day. Only our fans were good, the rest of the team were poor.

"Offensively, defensively, the whole performance was poor. Liverpool played very well and congratulations to them. We have to bounce back and show the right desire.

"The defeat raises some questions [about us], we were caught and were naive."

The defeat gives Manchester City and Chelsea the chance to leapfrog the Gunners in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
