Report: Arsene Wenger to sign new Arsenal contract

Arsene Wenger will sign a new contract at Arsenal this summer after being handed £70m-plus to strengthen the squad, according to a report.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly planning to sign a new contract at the club after being told he can spend big this summer.

The 64-year-old, who has been in charge of the Gunners for 18 years, has yet to pen a new deal despite telling the board that he was staying.

However, the Frenchman will commit himself to Arsenal having been informed that he has £70m-plus to spend on new recruits ahead of next season, according to The Mirror.

The report suggests that Wenger aims to bring in a big name striker, a new right-back, a midfield general, a wide player and also a new goalkeeper as he looks to strengthen his current squad.

The Gunners boss is also said to be interested in bringing Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley to the Emirates Stadium, though his future is uncertain with a new manager set to take over at United in the coming weeks.
