Paul Merson insists that Arsenal would be wise to replace Unai Emery with Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers this season.

Paul Merson has insisted that Arsenal would be wise to replace Unai Emery with Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers this season.

The Gunners boss has come under heavy pressure following a defeat to Sheffield United and consecutive draws with Crystal Palace and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Rodgers, meanwhile, has overseen remarkable change at Leicester since joining the club in February, with the Foxes currently sitting third in the Premier League table.

Speaking on the subject of Rodgers, Merson told The Mirror: "He's getting a tune out of every single player, it's incredible. If they beat Arsenal on Saturday, they will be in the driving seat for the top four.

"Rodgers has done so well that Leicester have a job on their hands keeping hold of him.

"If I were Arsenal, I'd be breaking the bank to get him, give him a five-year contract and sit back and watch him transform the club."

It is claimed that a victory for Leicester over Arsenal this weekend would force the North London club into ramping up its pursuit of Jose Mourinho.

The former manager of Chelsea and Manchester United is said to be keen on working in the Premier League once again.
