Former Arsenal forward Dennis Bergkamp emerges as a contender to fill the vacant manager's post at Swansea City, according to reports.

Dennis Bergkamp has emerged as a contender to fill the vacant manager's post at Swansea City.

The former Arsenal forward, who is Frank de Boer's assistant at Dutch champions Ajax, has shortened to 6/1 in the market this afternoon, according to Sky Sports News.

Swansea are looking for a new boss after Brendan Rodgers took over at Liverpool on Friday.

Bergkamp has in the past said that he could not see himself as a manager.

Speaking in 2011, he said: "I've never seen myself as a manager. You've to put all your time into the job and that would be hard for me."

The Welsh club are believed to have only contacted Wigan assistant Graeme Jones over the position but talks are thought to have broken down.
