Mikel Arteta surprised by Alexis Sanchez form

Arsenal captain Mikel Arteta believes that Alexis Sanchez has surprised everyone by how quickly he has adapted to English football.

Arsenal captain Mikel Arteta has admitted that Alexis Sanchez has surprised the squad by adapting so quickly to the Premier League.

The summer signing from Barcelona took his tally to 10 goals for the season on Saturday with a brace during the team's 3-0 win over Burnley.

While claiming that the Chilean may have struggled in the first few weeks of his Arsenal career, Arteta believes that he is now performing close to his maximum.

"We're not surprised about his performance but maybe how quickly he has adapted," the Spaniard is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "He found it hard in the first few weeks but has now got the platform and has found the physical level he needs. The way he is contributing to the team is very good."

Arsenal are back in action on Tuesday when they host Anderlecht in the Champions League.
