Arsene Wenger: 'I panic about retiring'

Arsene Wenger admits that the thought of retiring makes him panic as he prepares to enter his 20th year as Arsenal manager.

Arsene Wenger has admitted that the thought of retiring makes him panic as he closes in on 19 years in charge of Arsenal.

The Frenchman is the longest-serving manager in the Premier League by over 15 years, but he claims that he finds it tough to consider bringing his time in North London to an end.

"Retirement? Yes, it crosses my mind but for not longer than five seconds because I panic a bit," the Gunners boss told reporters.

"When we played at United, [Sir Alex] Ferguson met me. I said, 'Come on, you don't miss it?' He said, 'No.' He had enough.

"Ferguson goes to every game. But he has horses. I have no horses."

Arsenal begin their bid for a first title in 12 years against West Ham United on August 9.
