Chuba Akpom eager to impress at Arsenal

Chuba Akpom admits that he is "dying" to get some minutes under his belt at Arsenal in order to make an impression on manager Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal starlet Chuba Akpom has confessed that he is desperate to make an impression at club after featuring in his first Premier League game of the season yesterday afternoon.

The 19-year-old striker was introduced from the bench for the final six minutes of the Gunners' 2-0 defeat against Southampton at St Mary's.

Despite his limited game time at the Emirates Stadium, Akpom is determined to take his chances when they come.

"I'm starting to train with them a bit more and I'm getting more of a feel about how it is to be on the bench," he told the club's official website.

"I'm just dying to get on every game and every minute counts. I try my best to make the most of each opportunity that I get, so when I went out there I just gave 100%.

"Every game I'm hoping to get an opportunity. I just want to play. I'm hungry for it now. I want to show the boss what I'm made of and I think that I'm ready."

Akpom could be handed a start against Hull City in the FA Cup third round this weekend due to injury and suspension problems elsewhere.
