Team News: Abou Diaby starts for Arsenal against Southampton

Abou Diaby makes his first appearance of the season for Arsenal in tonight's third-round clash at home to Southampton in the League Cup.

Abou Diaby has been given a place in Arsenal's starting lineup for tonight's third-round clash at home to Southampton in the League Cup.

It is the French midfielder's first appearance of the season for the Gunners after he missed most of the last campaign with a anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Arsene Wenger has made a further nine changes to his side following Saturday's 3-0 win over Aston Villa, with David Ospina making his debut in goal for the club.

Tomas Rosicky, Jack Wilshere and Lukas Podolski are all included, while former Southampton defender Calum Chambers is the only player who keeps his place from the weekend.

Meanwhile, Saints boss Ronald Koeman has made a total of five changes on the back of his team's 1-0 victory at Swansea City.

New signing Sadio Mane goes straight into the starting XI, with Florin Gardos, Steven Davis, Victor Wanyama and Matt Targett also being given the nod.

Arsenal: Ospina; Bellerin, Chambers, Hayden, Coquelin; Rosicky, Diaby, Wilshere; Alexis, Campbell, Podolski
Subs: Martinez, Ajayi, Gibbs, Mertesacker, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Cazorla, Akpom

Southampton: Forster; Clyne, Fonte, Gardos, Targett; Wanyama, Schneiderlin, S Davis, Tadic, Mane; Pelle
Subs: K Davis, Long, Cork, Bertrand, Mayuka, Reed, McCarthy
