Ten-man Elche denied late on by Almeria

Almeria strike late on against Elche to rescue a point in a 2-2 draw at the Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero.

Elche remain just one point from safety having squandered a late lead against Almeria this evening in a 2-2 draw.

The hosts were ahead with just six minutes on the clock when Rodriguez leapt highest to power home a header beyond the reach of Ruben.

Edu Albacar conceded a penalty kick eight minutes before the interval, with Verza converting from the spot to level up the contest.

Jonathas restored Los Franjiverdes' lead on 55 minutes when he latched onto a defence-splitting pass to make it 2-1, although the striker was shown a second yellow soon after to leave Elche down to 10 men.

Almeria made the man advantage count late on when Tomer Hemed headed home from a corner to rescue his side at the Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero.

The draw leaves Elche in 16th place in the La Liga table, while Almeria are in eighth.
